Summary

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services for all departments. Collects, analyzes and negotiates prices through competitive bids with a variety of vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Reviews requisitions. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
• Maintains procurement records for items or services such as cost, delivery lead time, product quality or performance, and inventory par levels.
• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
• Prepares purchase orders and/or bid requests. Reviews and implements Cap Ex requirements where applicable.
• Reviews new product information provided by manufacturers, suppliers, trade publications and trade shows.
• Provides new product information to appropriate departments for their consideration.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of a two year degree from an accredited college or university; or minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Age Requirement

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to communicate effectively to various groups, including vendors and/or employees.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. This may also include warranty language, matrix spread sheets, and engineering drawings or plans.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may change if called upon to perform buyer duties in other locations in the casino complex. An employee may be exposed to cigarette smoke while performing buyer duties within the public areas of the casino.
